The high altar is in the part of the church we call the sanctuary.

The East Window

The window directly above the high altar in the sanctuary portrays major events in the life of Jesus, the Christ. This is also called the east window.

The left light in the east window shows the 

  • Annunciation
  • Birth and Incarnation
  • Flight into Egypt.

The centre light shows 

  • The Risen Christ
  • Christ in the Temple at age 12 years
  • Christ as a boy with his Mother

The right hand light shows Jesus

  • Working in Nazareth
  • Baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist
  • Being Tempted in the Wilderness

The Prophetic Windows

The two windows on the walls on either side of the sanctuary are the prophetic windows.

On the left are the major prophets of the Old Testament.

On the right, it shows the fulfillment of the prophecies in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is reading a portion of Isaiah. See Luke's Gospel, Chapter 4:18.
